Time to Focus. My new album is out!

Finally it’s August the 25th and my third full-length album has been released. I thought I should write a few words about how it came to be.

My first album 64 was produced and released by myself way back in 1996 and my second one came out on a German label in 1999. The plan was to finish number three a couple of years later, at the latest. I actually finished some tunes but everything changed when I discovered the club scene in 2001. After that I produced mostly electronic dance music.

After a while people and labels in the club scene started to ask me if I wanted to do remixes for them. That sounded like fun so I did quite a lot of that, for quite a few years. I also released a bunch of EPs with my own dance music, on my own label and on other people’s labels. But somehow I never really managed to produce enough good tunes to fill up an entire album. Then a few years ago I though, enough is enough. This remixing business wasn’t doing anything for me anymore and I had kind of reached a plateau with my producing skills. Then about three years ago I got into modular synthesizers and suddenly I had lots of inspiration to make music again. In just a couple of months I produced 3-4 good tracks. The idea for a third full-lengther came into light again.

The result is Focus. I hope you like it.

My third album will be called “Focus”

Finally!!
My third full-length album “Focus” will be released on August 25th. It is the culmination of my work in the studio for the last two and a half years. The overall style of “Focus” will be electronic dance music, with elements of house, progressive, techno, ambient and even a bit of space music.
“Focus” will be available on my Bandcamp page, Apple Music and all the usual streaming places.

My next album is finished

My third full length album is finally finished. It still lacks a name and artwork but all its 10 tracks are mastered and done. It will be out this autumn on Bandcamp, Spotify and all the other digital outlets. Planned release date: To be announced.

Now listen to the first track of the album called ‘Red in a sea of green’

I’m still alive

I noticed I haven’t been posting here in a while so here’s a little update to what I’ve been up to lately.

First of all, I have spent A TON of my spare time on building that Arp 2600 clone called the TTSH, or Two Thousand Six Hundred. It’s a massive build and I’m almost finished with it now. I will post some more pictures and sounds when the case and everything is done.

Also I switched jobs recently, so I’m now I’m back working with what you call User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) Design for E-commerce. I have been there for four months now, so a lot of my creative energy have been directed towards that. I’m a senior in this area and it’s something I have been working professional with for over 20 years now.

The next album is still in the works. Gotta finish it now, I know..

I now have 10 tracks finished for my next album

Haven’t decided yet if that is enough or if I should aim for a couple more tracks until I’m done. The ten tracks I have now totals in at 65 minutes. Hmm.. I guess there’s truly not something called a full length album anymore. When I released my last real CD album in 1999 a full lengther meant around 72 minutes. I’m not sure there’s a limit anymore, as long as it’s a digital release. I should get around to start the search for a label now though.

Björn Fogelberg – Deep Strategy

Here’s a better version of my new track called Deep Strategy. Now I just need one more track for my (full length) album. I’m starting to search for a suitable label, so please do hit me with any suggestion you might have. The style will mostly be electronic dance music on the deeper, more atmospheric side, with a mixture of progressive, deep house, modern techno and a dash of ambient. Think Lost and found, Bedrock, Sudbeat and Microcastle.

A treasure trove of old tape recordings

Old tapes

I was digging around in some of my old boxes and came across a big bunch of cassette tapes. Most of them are more or less irrelevant today – they contain the normal stuff a young man would record from the radio and LP:s in the early 80s to mid 90s. But some actually have tunes that I produced in the early to mid 90s, when I was part of this company / band called Cyberpunk Development. That music was never released so it will be fun to listen to it again, some odd 20 years later. If it’s any good I will put it up on my Soundcloud page.

Oh, and there is also a DAT, but I don’t have any way of playing it, since I don’t have a DAT-player. Just had a look at Ebay and they are super expensive. Like 5000 SEK and upwards for a portable Sony DAT Walkman. What the hell?!
